This CLE will focus on legal challenges surrounding the trade in international cultural objects by exploring competing claims among source countries, museums, and market players such as auction houses, collectors and dealers. With reference to current controversies like the recent raid on Christie’s to recover smuggled Indian artifacts, “red flag” issues that can trip up the unwary company or collector involved with the international movement of antiquities. Who should attend? Attorneys advising businesses and individuals collecting international antiquities, dealing with them, or handling their international movement.
